About Heather

Hi, My name is Heather (she/her), and I am a registered Social Worker (RSW), with over 25 years of experience. I offer individual therapy services to residents of Ontario, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. I received my Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from the University of Manitoba and my Masters of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Toronto. I have worked in diverse communities and settings and have learned a lot along the way. You may not feel this way now, but I have learned that the challenging moments in our lives are often also our biggest opportunities for growth and expanded resilience.

My approach is warm, down to earth, practical, and collaborative. With a focus on whole health, I believe our emotional and mental wellness often hinges on our wellness in other parts of ourselves and our lives. I am trained in various therapeutic modalities and I am always learning more. I have training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and I include Narrative and Mindfulness practices in our work together, as well. I will tailor your therapy to meet you unique needs and preferences. I have a particular passion and specialized focus of working with professional and family caregivers and care providers. If you are struggling with burnout or feel you are losing yourself to your caregiving role, please reach out for support.

We all have cracks and weaknesses. We all experience challenges and change, and sometimes it can be distressing. Life is an ongoing process of change that is best met with curiosity, an openness to trial and error, lots of practice and compassionate support. I look forward to working with you, in pursuit of the changes you seek.
